And he chose half glass of water...A Struggle

Let me start with a typical story style. The style which I was taught in my 2nd grade. Once upon a time, a man was thirsty. He was searching desperately for water and in a constant struggle to find even a few drops of water, but couldn't find any.  Day by day his need was increasing and his struggle was getting harder and harder. One day the miracle happened and he was given two options. One was half glass of water and one was quarter filled. Just imagine you are at the place of that man. What would you choose? Obviously half glass of water, though his need was not fulfilled completely, but that was the better option for him. So he chose that option and started struggle again.

I hit upon by this idea when the Azadi March and Inqalaab March was resisted by shelling and firing of rubber bullets in Islamabad outside parliament house. However, it was an undemocratic move that shows barbarism on peaceful and innocent protesters. At this critical moment, I don't want to say that I am supporting PTI or PMLN. I would say just choose what is better. I believe anyone like the thirsty man will choose half glass of water despite of the fact that both are not full. The demand of PMLN resignation could be omitted, but it was not. Similarly, it was almost 17 days, but the government was paying no heed to the demands.

No clear mandate was given to protesters by government. Media reported deadlock among PTI and government negotiations. There was hype on social media. Twitter was trending with #GoNawazGo, #GoImranGo and many other similar trends. Some people were making baseless arguments and some were talking sense.

You know what, in the beginning I had some reservations over Azadi March, but in these last few days I get confused again. May be because of the following questions that were roaming in my mind.
  • Why containers were placed in Lahore and Islamabad?
  • Why there was a delay by government to file an FIR against the model town incident?
  • Why PTI march was blamed as unethical?
  • Why Nawaz Sharif  lied in the parliament?
  • Why Nawaz Sharif went to Raiwand, Lahore?
Now these all why's are making me thirsty as well. I am in a dire need of water. I was not offered full glass of water though, but I will choose a better option. Yes, I will choose the half glass of water, I will chose PTI. Don't forget that quarter glass of water need to be filled half first. You have to struggle after all. The choice is all yours!

Work Smarter, Not Harder- A New World Order

Our forefathers were lucky enough as they were living with a concept that hard work could lead to one's dream destination. Their life roamed around simplicity, passion, effort and finally they achieved what they wanted. That means you don't need to be skillful , you just needed to be hard working, even if it meant starting from scratch. Wasn't that great?

You know what, today this concept is getting a little vague. By saying this I am not taking my belief off from the fruits of hard work, but I am apprising you about a change that is gradually encompassing our life and demands us to adjust accordingly. You might not realize, but the working norms are changing over.

Wait a minute! I don't want you to work that hard, this can definitely drive you crazy!

Today is the trend of smart thinking, followed by progressive approach and a little farsightedness. The next question that might pique you is how you can perform smartly in order to fit in with this new world order? Don't worry, you can still think hard and figure out smart ways for yourself.

Though many times I have been told to work smarter, not harder. So here I am sharing some fast tips that I am practicing. You will find them helpful, especially at your workplace.

1. Make List of Don'ts

We usually make list of do's while working, but believe me list of don'ts can be even more fruitful. Figure out the distracting factors and say "NO" to them.

2. Prioritize Your Tasks

Don't feel burdened with a lot of tasks. You need to give quality time to top priority tasks and have to manage your input accordingly.

3. Ask Questions

Don't think that asking questions can make you look aloof. Sometimes the more questions you ask, the more smarter you appear. But be careful and make sure that your questions are worthy enough to be answered.

4. Quest To Learn

How about if someone says you 'Stop being over-smart' and abruptly you give a logical argument based on your knowledge? Yes, knowledge is the base. You should develop a thirst to learn more, because with more knowledge you can perform better.

5. Make A Mistake

You are not supposed to make an intentional mistake, instead you should keep trying new methods. If you are failing once in a while it means you are trying hard enough.

You can think, revise, improve, and can work better everyday. Keep your passion alive and overcome your fears to kick start with a new approach for your betterment.

I believe that these tips could maximize your outcome with little hard work. However just trust your efforts and keep your spirits high.

Have you ever heard about the term digital revolution? Though it's a vast term that needs your quality time to get a deep understanding on it, but in my today's blog I have tried to give an overview about it as I never want my reader to be in any ambiguity about it.

You know what; digital revolution is changing the world fundamentally. You must be thinking how? It's because we are encircled with technology and can't resist it's impact. Digital is all about connection that demands
  • People
  • Technology
  • Time
  • Creativity
This exactly goes with our life. Can you live today without cell phone?  You barely can! It not just seems hard, it seems almost impossible. We are all the time busy with surfing on internet, browsing, tweeting, facebooking and the list goes on. An interesting fact about digital revolution is that mobile has 91% global penetrationInternet and mobile adoption is also on the rise. I found the following image while doing some research and it mesmerized me.

A lot happens on internet in one minute. Can I say that it can change your life in one minute? Believe you me it can!

When you know that this is an era of digital revolution, then you need to take preventive measures to keep your online identity safe. In order to make sure that you are in secure zone in digital revolution, keep following tips in mind.
  • Social networking is good as long as you are behaving professionally. If you are getting personal in your interaction then you are damaging your reputation all by yourself.
  • Be wise while posting your personal stuff online. You never know if you can have an anonymous online enemy.
  • If you are interacting with some stranger online, then behave like a stranger. Limit your conversation to the point.
  • Last but not the least, if you want to maintain a sound profile online then you need a good mind with positive thoughts. Being controversial just for the sake of popularity will take you no where.
You should keep looking up, especially when you know you are part of digital landscape.

Busting Tips To Deal With Difficult Work Situations

Our life roams around many ups and downs. Yet another fact is that, if we are living a constant life, we probably get bored. Once I read the famous quote of Paul Coehlo which says "If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine; it's lethal". Your life begins where you face challenges, deadlines, variations and a lot more like this.

Before heading to the details of the title,  let me put up a question for all of you. Tell me how many times it happens that you faced tough situations in your life? The majority would probably say multiple times. Ok, that is so obvious part of life. How many times you were put off? Though many times, but you know why you are put off? It's just because you think you can't cope up with the tough time. In my today's blog, I wanted to share a good food of thoughts to cater the difficult situations at your workplace. If you are a student, you will find it helpful for your future, if it's your first job you can start with a good beginning and if you have a manager like the one shown below into your professional life, then you would love to adopt them.

1. Stop Over thinking!
First, you need to put a halt to your extreme thinking process. Never mind if you are criticized for the task assigned to you. Remember, you are never criticized for your work, you are actually encouraged to put more effort to bring out your maximum potential. Keep exploring your passion for work in such cases.

2. Minimize Your Frustrations
When you get silent even in the situations where you are right, frustration grows inside you. It's very natural. You need to overwhelm it by following some boosters in your life. Before you go at your workplace where you feel frustrated, you need to be calm again. You can do that straightaway by exercising or doing anything that provides you relaxation, not just physically but mentally as well.

3. Keep Evaluating!
Last but not the least, you need to evaluate your effort at every step. Spot the distracting factors while you are working. Every time you need to monitor the efforts that you are putting. Sometimes it's not just you,  it can be your colleagues or maybe your bad habit like using social media while working that are worsening your performance.

If you would ask me that, what do I do, then I take every situation as a challenge. It keeps me working with more passion at the every new day of my life. All you need to do is hook up with your confidence, set some priorities, define your goals and you are good to go with tough situations of life.

Have you faced any tough situation at your workplace? How did you cater that? Share your story in the comments below :)

Mobile phone tracking, a new technology infrastructure that keeps employees constantly on the go. You must be thinking that how this can be possible? It just sounds a little difficult, but convenient to work with.

When it comes to managing employees in the field, it always seems a bigger challenge, especially for small businesses who offer in-home services. Do you know mobility is the key factor that is affecting today’s workplace? Remember, mobile officing is beneficial not only for employees, but for employers as well. Working with business partners, communicating at client sites, working in multiple branch offices, in such sorts of area you need to keep an eye on your employees while keeping their privacy maintained. Multiple mobile tracking apps have been launched so far that can tell you where your employees are, where they have been and where they should be next.

Don’t think that it’s a tough entity to administer your employees. All you need is a manager who will administer your employees from a browser based web tool. In today’s partner based economy where competitors are more service oriented, you have to be more efficient for better customer service. The role of Women in a modern political setup in democratic Pakistan

When the role of women is defined in a society that has partial democracy, then not only women’s role is undermined, but that political setup needs to redefine their policies towards the women’s status. In a patriarchal society like Pakistan, the women’s role varies and is linked to the province they live in. Though women have the potential to play a multi dimensional role from societal to organizational setup, but their contribution is not that much valued and cherished. In the name of various customs and rituals they are still deprived of their legitimate right.

Women’s political participation, their role as decision makers and voters has always been supported by civil society organizations and women in politics. The basis of women’s political participation has always been a state commitment at the international level and considered as one of the main tools for gender mainstreaming. The women legislators are playing a very active role on issues of national concerns such as foreign policy, import, export, unemployment, environment along with the crucial women’s issues. It is comparatively difficult to endorse the role of women in a society which has a male dominated mindset, though still working with the pressures and resistance shows the level of motivation women have. Even Quaid-e-Azam believed in empowering women for the economic and social growth of our country. He said:

“No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you; we are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women are shut up within the four walls of house as prisoners”.

This is not just a statement but a proven phenomenon. The focus of women on issues of national concern has enhanced their acceptability within higher positions such as Fehmida Mirza, Ms Shahla Raza as speakers of National Assembly and deputy speaker of  the Sindh National Assembly. Apart from some prominent examples even today political parties do not have clear policies and manifestos for women’s political role. They treat women with the typical stereotypical approach that does not treat women with equal rights and potential.

The next question that arises here is what role can they play? Women’s role varies according to economical, social, religious, political and legal aspect. With the economic development around the globe, women in the west are more valued as compared to women’s status in Pakistan. We can say the feudalistic, economical, political and socialistic approach since the independence of Pakistan has not only denied the advent of democracy in Pakistan, but even in some part of Pakistan a woman can’t exercise her right to vote. Legally multiple pro-women laws have been passed which were actively supported by women’s group. A women’s representation is a must in political setup this is how the stereotypical approaches can be reformed and women’s issues can be highlighted at the national level. Various NGO’s for example Aurat Foundation can be considered as a great example of highlighting the struggling women’s role in a society and is working diligently for women empowerment. Such effort that is only be lead by women can’t be overlooked. The exigency of the hour is to make sure the adequate representation of women is essential in political as well as executive domain. Women’s role needs to be recognized and quota for women and induction of women in EC and others should be defined clearly. There is a need of structural change in the present system of elections regarding the reserved seats for women. Once their role is prioritized on a mainstream level, they can bring improvement in Pakistan’s image at international level.
